Andrei Ryabushkin

Andrei Petrovich Rjabuschkin (Russian: Андрей Петрович Рябушкин, scientific transliteration Andrei Petrovich Rjabuškin; * 17 Oktoberjul / October 29 1861greg in Stanichnaja Sloboda in the government of Tambov, .. .. † 27 Apriljul / May 10 1904greg in Didwino ) was a Russian painter.

Life

He was born the son of an icon painter. He and his older brother, who was also hagiographers, he helped from an early age at work. At the age of 14, he was an orphan. In the same year, 1875, he appeared as one of the youngest students ever in the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. Here he studied with Vasily Grigoryevich Perov and Illarion Mikhailovich Prjanischnikow. In 1882 he left after the death of perovskite school without qualifications and went to Saint Petersburg, where he entered the local art academy. Here he studied under Pavel Petrovich Chistyakov. This study, which disappointed him personally, he finished in 1892. Though he did not receive any award for his thesis, but got a scholarship to abroad to train more of its own funds. During the time of his studies he also worked as an illustrator for magazines contemporary Russia.

However, he did not go abroad, but traveled to ancient Russian cities such as Novgorod, Kiev ( Ukraine), Moscow, Uglich and Yaroslavl. Here he learned the architecture, objects of folk crafts, old weapons, fabrics, tapestries, embroideries, etc. know.

In the years 1890, 1892 and 1894, he participated in the exhibitions of the Peredvizhniki, but later broke with that movement. In the 1890s, in which he received very few orders for drawings, watercolors and annual expenditures for magazines, he lived and worked in Lubwino. In 1901 he settled in the nearby village Didwino build a studio. In the 1900s he devoted himself to the Russian peasants of his time, which was reflected in the works of these years.

1903 was diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis Rjabuschkin. On the advice of his doctors he went to Switzerland for treatment. The local treatment remained unsuccessful, so he returned to Russia. Here he died in Didwino 1904.

His most famous works are devoted to the lives of ordinary Russian people of the 17th century. He also worked on frescoes for the Cathedral of St. Sophia in Novgorod and mosaics for the Church of the Resurrection in St. Petersburg. Rjabuschkin is also known for his genre paintings and his history paintings. His works of the 17th century Russian women in the church and the merchant family were honored at the World Exhibition in Paris.
