Andrew Weibrecht

Andrew Weibrecht ( born February 10, 1986 in Lake Placid ) is an American alpine skier. He specializes in the disciplines of downhill and Super -G.

Biography

Weibrecht was born in Lake Placid, the fourth of five children of the married couple Lisa and Ed Weibrecht and grew up there. In 2001 he won the slalom and the giant slalom at the Whistler Cup and 2002 he played his first FIS races and race in Nor- Am Cup. In 2003, he first participated at the U.S. Championships. After beginning his career mainly disputed slalom and giant slalom took place gradually, a change to the faster disciplines. 2005 followed by the first missions in the European Cup.

At the Junior World Cup 2006 Weibrecht won the bronze medal in the Super -G. On 30 November 2006 he played his first race in the World Cup, but drove in his first season never finished in the points. With three victories, he decided in 2007 the total score and the combined score of the Nor -Am Cup for themselves. On 29 November 2007 he made ​​his breakthrough with the world leaders, with a 14th place in the World Cup super-combined in Beaver Creek. After his forced break Weibrecht drove on December 9, 2011, tenth in the super -G on Beaver Creek for the second time in his career and for the first time in four years in a World Cup race at the fastest ten.

At the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, he had a surprise as four years ago. Weibrecht won the silver medal in the Super G behind Kjetil Jansrud.
