Angel Sanctuary
Angel Sanctuary (Japanese天使 禁 猟 区, Tenshi Kinryōku ) is a completed manga series Kaori Yuki Japanese illustrator, and was made as anime. Characters and settings are taken from the Christian, Jewish and most of all Kabbalistic mythology, the story picks corresponding elements as the "seven levels of heaven and hell " or the " self- retracting God " on.
Action
The young Setsuna Mudo (无 道 刹那Setsuna Mudo ) is in love with his own sister Sara (无 道 纱罗Mudo Sara ). As this incestuous problem was not already big enough, he also has to learn yet that he carries the soul of the fallen and condemned female angel Alexiel (アレクシエルArekushieru ) in itself. Therefore, he encounters soon Alexiels brother Rosiel, which was sealed in the final battle between angels and demons Alexiel with a spell in the earth. Meanwhile his faithful follower Katan has freed him from his exile, and he seeks revenge. So Setsuna slides into the center of a struggle between Heaven and Hell, in which many of his friends and acquaintances die, like his sister Sara, who sacrifices himself for him. The desire to Sara at any price to bring them back to life, Setsuna then performs first to Hades, where he met the Guardian of Hell Gate Uriel, who is also one of the four archangels. While he was staying there, but dies his real body and he wakes up for the time being in Alexiels body to life, which is located since its condemnation by God in hell. There he met not only some of the seven devils, which represent the seven deadly sins, but also Lucifer himself. After he had returned from there and also his old body has received back, he embarks into the sky, an equally depraved place as hell, where it meets the remaining three archangels Raphael, Michael, and Jibril, each symbolizing an angel style and have quarreled with each other. But since he does not stop, but travels up through the shells of heaven, until Etemenanki, the tower of God, where he personally takes the Creator over.
The world of Angel Sanctuary is still populated by celestial beings as Metatron, Sevothtarte, demons and mythical creatures such as Belial ghouls and the dragon Nidvhegg.
Publications
Angel Sanctuary appeared from 1994 to 2000 in separate chapters in the Japanese manga magazine Hana to Yume of Hakusensha publishing. These individual chapters were summarized from 1995 to 2001 in a total of 20 anthologies. From 2002 to 2003 there was a new edition as a 10 -volume Bunkoban series.
In German, the manga series has been published in full from April 2001 to June 2004 by Carlsen Comics. It has been translated by Nina Olligschläger. Since January 2011, Angel Sanctuary appears as a Deluxe Edition.
Angel Sanctuary is published except in Japan and Germany, among others, also in France, Italy, Spain and the United States.
Adaptations
Anime
Based on the first four manga volumes a three-part anime OVA produced by Bandai Visual in 2000, the German ran synchronized with VOX and VIVA. She has appeared in OVA film on DVD.
The music was composed by Hikaru Nanase.
The OVA differs in some places from the manga, so some characters do not occur.

Reception
Angel Sanctuary was awarded the 2004 Sondermann audience award at the Frankfurt Book Fair in the category " Manga / Manhwa international".
The journal Animania praises that despite the changes in the action in the implementation of an anime about to receive was the dramatic and atmospheric density of the manga. The drawings and animations are of the highest quality, the music creates the right atmosphere. Similarly, the German synchronization is appropriate and credible.
