Anguilla national football team

The national football team of Anguilla is the national football team of the British overseas territory Anguilla in the Caribbean. It is one of the worst teams of the CONCACAF continental federation. So far, still have not had the team to qualify for the CONCACAF Gold Cup or the Football World Cup.

World Cup Qualifiers

The first appearance in a FIFA World Tournament Anguilla recorded in the qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2002 in South Korea and Japan. In the first round of the CONCACAF the team played against the national football team of the Bahamas. On 5 March 2000, the Bahamas Anguilla beat 3-1 in The Valley ( Anguilla). Two weeks later Anguilla subject again with 1:2 in Nassau ( Bahamas). Thus, the team was eliminated in the first round.

When qualifying for the Football World Cup 2006 in Germany Anguilla had to compete against the national football team of the Dominican Republic. In Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), the team achieved a respectable result, the match ended 0-0. But the return game was clearly lost with 0:6 and Anguilla was eliminated.

As part of the qualification for the World Cup 2010 in South Africa, the team met in the first round of the CONCACAF region to the national team of El Salvador. In the first leg of El Salvador won on February 6, 2008 in San Salvador (El Salvador) with 12:0. The return leg on 26 March 2008 at RFK Stadium in Washington, DC (United States) ended 0:4 from the perspective of Anguilla, which meant an early exit from the World Cup qualifiers.
