Anja Althaus ( born September 3, 1982 in Magdeburg ) is a German handball player.
Career
Althaus started playing handball at the age of eight years in the youth of SC Magdeburg and moved as a 16- year-old second division for HC Niederndodeleben. 2000 the 1.77 m wide circle runner to an offer from the Bundesliga club DJK / MJC Trier and played there for six years. They won in 2003 with the " chicks " the German Championship and was one of the best county players in the Bundesliga. For the season 2007/ 08 Althaus made another career move and joined the Danish top club Viborg HK, with whom she won several national and international titles. In summer 2012, she moved to Bundesliga Thüringer HC, she leaves after the 2013/14 season and the Macedonian club Vardar zrk SCBT followed.
Anja Althaus is in the Germany squad. She participated in the European Championships in 2004 and 2006 (5th and 4th place ) and at the 2005 World Championships (6th place ) in part, even in the Olympic Games in 2008, she participated and reached the 11th place.
Private
Althaus is in a relationship with the Danish handball player Nicolai Hansen from ThSV Eisenach.
