Anna Chakvetadze

Anna Chakvetadze Dschambulilowna (Russian Анна Джамбулиловна Чакветадзе; born March 5, 1987 in Moscow, then the Soviet Union) is a former Russian tennis player of Georgian origin.

Career

2004 moved Chakvetadze, which is since 2003 a professional player, one at her Grand Slam debut with a win over the former number three in the world, Anastasia Myskina in the third round of the U.S. Open. In the same year she was the first time among the top 100 in the world.

In 2005, she reached the third round of the French Open and again the third round of the U.S. Open and made so that a jump into the top 50 in the world rankings. At the end of the year she was ranked 33

2006 Chakvetadze won the Tier I event in Moscow. On the way to the title she defeated by Dinara Safina, Elena Dementieva and Nadia Petrova three top ten players. At the Porsche Cup in Stuttgart Chakvetadze lost their first match against Tatiana Golovin with 6:7, 1:6. Also in the Kremlin Cup in Moscow, she had to put up against defending champion Dinara Safina a first round defeat ( 6:7 and 2:6 ). When Masters of the eight best players of the season in Madrid in 2007 it reached with victories over Jelena Jankovic and Serena Williams the semi-finals, but lost again her compatriot Maria Sharapova bow. Chakvetadze ended the year 2007 as number 6 in the world.

The start of the 2008 season was rather modest.
