Anne Sofie von Otter
Anne Sofie von Otter ( born May 9, 1955 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish mezzo-soprano.
Life
Anne Sofie von Otter was born on 9 May 1955 in Stockholm, the daughter of the diplomat Baron Göran von Otter. She grew up in Stockholm, Bonn and London. After studying in Stockholm and Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, she was from 1983-1985 a member of the ensemble of the Basel Opera. In 1985 she made her debut at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Since then, she also works with the label together German Grammophon. In 1988 she made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, in 1994 at the Vienna State Opera. Their successful concert career, she regularly has in the great concert halls of Europe and North America occur among the great conductors of the day.
Since 1980 she collaborates with pianist Bengt Forsberg, who has since been her constant companion for song interpretations.
Anne Sofie von Otter is the theater director Benny Fredriksson, Director of the Stockholm City Theatre, is married and has two sons. She lives with her family in Sweden.
Work
The repertoire of their sound recordings is very broad. Starting with Baroque works to music of the 20th century, over folk songs and pop it which has brought out about 60 CDs alone with her label German Grammophon, which have won numerous awards. With Elvis Costello they recorded the highly acclaimed CD "For The Stars" with famous pop songs. On 1 September 2006 appeared " I Let The Music Speak" with songs of ABBA, Benny Andersson on the ( former member of the Swedish pop band ) grossed the piano part.
Published in 2007 by Anne Sofie von Otter album with songs that have created authors and composers in the concentration camp Theresienstadt. "The album ," says Norman Lebrecht in the Frankfurter Rundschau, " is the reparation of a daughter, the unsung songs of unknown victims " two men devoted, who is trying to save victims and failed are: Anne Sofie's father and Kurt Gerstein. " The songs and Otters lecture are simple, direct and immediate moving. Nothing on this album sounds like a performance, but rather a fundamental truth is conveyed, the song of an angel. "
