Edgar Krapp

Edgar Krapp ( born June 3, 1947 in Bamberg ) is a German organist and music professor.

Madder is one of the most renowned organists of the present and is a member of the Executive Board of the New Leipzig Bach Society and the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts.

Life

His first organ lessons got madder than a member of the cathedral choir. After graduating from the Franz -Ludwig -Gymnasium Bamberg in 1966, he studied organ with Franz Lehrndorfer in Munich and with Marie- Claire Alain in Paris. Already during his studies he was able to win multiple prizes at international music competitions.

Scientific career

From 1974 to 1993 he served as successor to Helmut Walcha an organ class at the Musikhochschule Frankfurt and from 1982 to 1991 he taught as a visiting professor at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. He was appointed to the Academy of Music in Munich, succeeding Franz Lehrndorfer 1993.

Career as a concert organist

Krapp occurred in Europe, in America and in Japan as a concert organist and was designed by renowned conductor ( Rafael Kubelik, Georges Prêtre, Colin Davis, Lorin Maazel, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Horst Stein and Christoph Eschenbach ) is committed to performances with their orchestras. He repeatedly led to the Bach organ work as a whole, all 14 concerts in Munich were broadcast live on the radio. Even with his performances of the organ concertos by Handel and his entire harpsichord works were carried radio and recordings.

He has played with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic, the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, the Deutsches Symphonie -Orchester Berlin and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.

Trivia

Edgar Krapp in his youth was a regular listener of the Bamberg Symphony and his hometown of Bamberg still connected artistically. He was instrumental in the design of the new Jann organ in Bamberg and was from 1993 to 2012 the artistic director of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra Organ series.
