Ante Tomić (basketball)

Ante Tomic (born 17 February 1987 in Dubrovnik, Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian professional basketball player. He plays mostly on the position of the center.

Career

The 2.17 meter tall Ante Tomic began his career in his hometown, in the youth of KK Dubrovnik, and moved to the state capital to KK Zagreb 2003. His first title celebrated Tomic 2008, when he won the Croatian Cup ( Kresimir Čosić Kup ). A little later he was selected in the NBA Draft on the 44th of the Utah Jazz. He was named MVP of the tournament in the season 2008/ 09 the NLB League and in 2009/10 he led the statistics referred to in points per game, rebounds and the MVP rankings, before moving to Spanish giants Real Madrid in January 2010, where he signed a contract until 2013. In the 2011/12 season he won with his club the Spanish Cup and reached the final of the ACB league. His contract was terminated at the end of season. Then Tomic signed for Real Madrid's arch-rivals FC Barcelona.

National

With Croatia, he already took part in the youth in various international tournaments. The competition to qualify for the European Championship 2007 he made ​​his debut in the senior team. In the Mediterranean Games in Pescara in 2009 he won the gold medal with Croatia.
