Anton Korobov

Anton Korobov (Ukrainian Антон Коробов; born June 25, 1985 in Kemerovo, Soviet Union) is a Ukrainian chess grandmaster.

Life

In the eighth child in 2000 Chess Olympiad in Artek, he played for the Ukrainian national team in the fourth board. The team received a silver medal and Korobov an individual gold medal for his score of 6.5 out of 8 In the U18 European Team Championship 2001 at Lake Balaton, he finished with the Ukrainian national team on board three first place ahead of Romania. The following year he played on board two. The team finished second and Korobov received an individual silver medal for his score of 5 out of 7

In 2002, Korobov won the championship of Ukraine, 2004, he was number two behind the master Andrei Volokitin. 2009 and 2010 he won the Czech Open in Pardubice. For the first time a player was able to defend his title. In 2012, he won with 8 points from 11 games ( 5 = 6, -0 ) for the second time the championship of Ukraine. In December 2013 he won in Warsaw with 18.5 points out of 22 games in the European Championship Blitz.
