Arque Municipality

The municipality Arque is a district in the department of Cochabamba in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location

The municipality Arque is one of two Municipalities of the province Arque. It is bordered to the west by the municipality of Tacopaya, on the southwest by the province of Bolívar, to the south by the department of Potosí, to the east by the province Capinota, in the north- east by the province Quillacollo, and to the north by the province Tapacari.

Central location and largest settlement of the municipality is Arque with 487 inhabitants ( 2001 census ) in the central part of the county.

Geography

The municipality Arque located in one of the northern foothills of the Bolivian Cordillera Central. The climate is semi-arid and a typical diurnal climate where the temperature differences between day and night be more pronounced than between seasons.

Arque has an average annual rainfall of 600 mm and a mean annual temperature of around 11 ° C (see climate chart ). The dry season lasts from May to September and has lower temperatures, but frost-free. The rainy season lasts from December to February and is warmer than the annual average.
