Artemide

Artemide is a world-renowned Italian lighting manufacturer. Two of his most well-known products are the Tizio table lamps ( 1972) by Richard Sapper and Tolomeo (1987 ) by Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina.

History and Organization

1960 the company by Ernesto Gismondi and Sergio Mazza founded. A first foreign subsidiary was established in 1980 in the United States. Today, Artemide has offices in many countries. Founded in 1986, German branch, which is led by Ernesto Gismondi and Steffen Salinger as directors, has its headquarters in Fröndenberg / Ruhr.

The Artemide Group is the holding company for the joint-stock companies Artemide, Artemide Architectural Division (based in Saint- Florent- sur -Cher, France) and North Light (based in Sieci, Italy). It operates six production plants, three in Italy and one each in Germany, Hungary and France.

Design

Among the designers who have worked for Artemide include Mario Botta, Norman Foster, Ettore Sottsass, Enzo Mari, Neil Poulton, Karim Rashid and Luigi Serafini. Many of Artemide lighting below have been awarded design prizes such as the Compasso d' Oro and the Red Dot design award, and museums like the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Galleria Nazionale d' Arte Moderna in Rome have Artemide lights added to their collections.
