Asbjørn Osnes

Asbjørn Osnes (* April 21, 1932 in Hønefoss; † 22 September 2011 in Jevnaker ) was a Norwegian ski jumper.

Career

Osnes who started for the Jevnaker IF, achieved his first success in the Norwegian Championships 1955 in Trysil, where behind Sverre stallvik and before Arnfinn Bergmann, he won the silver medal on the normal hill. In December of the same year he started at the Four Hills Tournament 1955/56, and jumped in Oberstdorf on the 28th place. In Garmisch -Partenkirchen, he just missed the podium in fifth place.

At the Olympic Winter Games 1956 in Cortina d' Ampezzo, he was ranked 18 on the normal hill. From the large hill he did not present himself. Shortly after the games, he jumped at the Norwegian Championships in 1956 in Drammen to sixth place.

In the Four Hills Tournament 1956/57, Osnes approached in three of the four competitions. Best finish was 10th place in Oberstdorf. In the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1958 he jumped from the normal hill on the fifth. A short time later, he was ninth on the normal hill at the Norwegian Championships in 1958. During the same year he exhibited at the Vikersundbakken with 108.5 m on a new hill record, who had two years inventory.

In 1959, he started only at Holmenkollen internationally and reached the 12th place. In the Norwegian Championships 1959 in Gjøvik he finished sixth. After three years of touring break, he joined the Four Hills Tournament 1961/62 on again. At his previous successes, however, he could not tie it and missed in all jumping top rankings. In the Norwegian Championships in 1962 in Skien he finished seventh.
