Ayopaya Municipality
The municipality Ayopaya (also: Villa de Independencia ) is a district in the department of Cochabamba in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

The municipality Ayopaya is one of two Municipalities of the province Ayopaya. It is bordered to the north and west by the department of La Paz, on the south by the province Tapacari, and on the east by the municipality of Morochata.
The municipality covers 167 localities ( Localidades ), central location of the municipality of Independencia is ( Ayopaya ) with 2,014 inhabitants ( 2001 census ) in the central part of the municipality.
Geography
The municipality Ayopaya lies between the Cordillera del Mazo Cruz and the Cordillera Tunari, a northwestern section of the Cordillera Oriental. The climate is a typical diurnal climate, in which the temperature fluctuations between day and night be more pronounced than between seasons.
