History

The place took its first mention as Bahun in the year 1244. Due to its proximity to Bratislava, the area of the village belonged to the present capital, and thus later also to the sphere of influence of the Hungarian kings. In the mid-16th century, a strong German influence in the town developed. This population has been over the years very decisive. This dominance took half a century after the immigration from a Croatian minority. Only after the creation of Czechoslovakia, the community was completely Slovak.

In 1580 the ruling family Jazernický built a manor house which has been extended in the years 1759-1765. It was rebuilt in 1816 in the neoclassical style and was remodeled in the years 1935 and 1936. In the 30s of the 20th century, the mansion was converted into a home for the blind.

In 1845, the station of the horse railway was opened from Trnava to Bratislava in Báhoň. The railway influenced the social and industrial development of sustainable community, which was reinforced by the opening of the railway from Bratislava to Zilina.

Between the years 1914 and 1921 was in Báhoň a Catholic church named after St. Francis of Assisi, built. The architect of the building was Milan Michal Harminc.

Between 1974 and 1990 the church was larger than it is today, because the congregations Kaplna and Igram also belonged to the community Báhoň.
