Baodun culture

The Baodun culture (Chinese宝 墩 文化/宝 墩 文化, pinyin Bǎodūn Wenhua ) is a late Neolithic culture in the Chengdu Plain of Sichuan basin in China. It is dated to 2500-1700 BC. The discovered sites are some of the oldest settlements in the Chengdu Plain.

The eponymous Baodun site located in the village Baodun ( Baoduncun宝 墩村) the municipality Longma龙马 乡of the circle Xinjin the sub- provincial city of Chengdu in Sichuan Province, China.

In the area of Chengdu, five other centers of culture were discovered: the Mangcheng - site ( Mangchangcun芒 城 村in Dujiangyan都江堰), the Shuanghe - site ( Shuanghecun双 河村in Chongzhou崇州), the Zizhu - site ( Zizhucun紫竹 村Chongzhou ) the Gucheng - site ( Guchengcun古城 村in Pi郫县) and the Yufu - site ( Yufucun鱼 凫 村in Wenjiang温江). Baodun the largest of those sites. The pottery has similarities with Sanxingdui.

The sites of the prehistoric cities of Chengdu Plain (Chengdu Pingyuan Shiqian Chengzhi成都平原 史前 城 址) are on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China since 2001.
