Baptiste Martin (born 14 May 1985 in Troyes ) is a French football player at the position of a defensive player who is found mainly in central defense for use. Since 2010 he is the Belgian first division team KV Kortrijk under contract, with his first contract ran until the summer of 2012 and was eventually extended until summer 2015.

Club career

Starts at AJ Auxerre

His first steps in a French top club was not born in Troyes in 1985 Baptiste Martin, near his hometown, where he had been active in local clubs, the newcomers of almost 80 kilometers away AJ Auxerre. For Burgundian club he joined in 1999 and was initially active exclusively in the youth teams of the club before he played high into the D- team of the club, which was represented at this time, especially in the French Sechstklassigkeit. From this team he managed for the season 2002/ 03 rapidly into the fünftklassig playing C- Team, in which he was active until the end of the season. Probably also in the episode season part of the C - team, he made it in just this season in the squad of the B- team game with operation in the CFA, the fourth- highest division in French football. This season, however, he was only used in a single League game and came only in 2004 /05 to his breakthrough in the team, as he has already brought it to 22 scoreless championship stakes. While legendary coach Guy Roux resigned his coaching job with the professionals of AJ Auxerre in the summer of 2005 after more than 44 coaches years, Martin played at this time, just in the B team and only came under the successor of Roux, Jacques Santini, on his pro debut. He made his debut here on August 6, 2005 in a 2-0 away win over the AS Monaco when he came off the bench for 43 minutes for the later French international and Liverpool player Bacary Sagna -. This was followed by some inserts as a substitute, before he played his first game from the beginning and throughout the entire game duration (0-1 away defeat against OGC Nice) on October 22. Then he came in the rest of the season to numerous other operations, in part as a substitute, but also as a regular force and brought it to the end of season 2005/ 06 a total of 15 Erstligaeinsätze. In addition, he was in the squad of the professional team, as they took in the Supercup match against Olympique Lyon after their Cup victory the previous season. There, the team lost 1:4 against but with the successful band from Lyon, was able to secure from 2002 to 2007 no less than six times in a row to win in this competition. Furthermore, it brought Martin this season on nine league appearances in the B team.

Hopelessness in Auxerre

As a result, the 2006/ 07 Martins inserts participated in the pros a bit and then going in the reserve team for some games to. Because of their relatively good placement in the final standings of the season 2005/ 06 was allowed to AJ Auxerre from the third round of the Intertoto Cup in 2006 and participate as one of eleven winners of this round also participate in the subsequent second qualifying round for the UEFA Cup 2006/ 07, where the team finally eliminated from a tournament only in the group stage. Martin got from all the international operations of his club but nothing with and came to the end of the season to just eight appearances in Ligue 1, as well as 13 appearances in the fourth division CFA. In the 2007 /08 season the stakes of the defensive actor in professional team further weight, however he reinforced with increasing inserts the B team. By the end of the season, where the AJ Auxerre could classify only on the 15th place in the table, it took Martin to six championship stakes, which he played through only two over the full duration. The situation is different, however, from looking at the CFA, where he was able to prevail clear with 23 games and also also contributed three goals. Because of the hopelessness that Baptiste Martin could prevail in the professional team of AJ Auxerre, the management decided the club to look for a club where the defense Recke could collect on a professional level match practice. This they eventually found in Clermont Foot to the Martin moved for the entire 2008/09 season on loan. In the French second division, the right-footer was finally able to put on a professional level and was no longer dependent only on inserts in the fourth division amateur football. With a total of 25 second division matches he came into this season for a regular match practice, although he only brought it with the team in the sometimes quite dense design table to twelfth place. This season he also met twice on his actual home club ES Troyes AC, against which he, however, twice narrowly won with the club from Clermont -Ferrand. Returning from the center of France, the trained defensive player could not prevail from Auxerre in his parent club and was used by Jean Fernandez, under which he previously nor was used in many professional roles, in no single League encounter more. Instead, he spent his time mostly in the B team, where he, however, in most cases also the younger players had to defer to it and so brought only 14 Championship inserts and a hit.

Transfer to Belgium

Yet to come to a breakthrough Due to the ongoing futility at AJ Auxerre, Martin decided to leave the club at the end of season 2009/10 and then wrote in May 2010, two-year professional contract with KV Kortrijk in the Belgian First Division. But here he was struggling to part with a form of weakness and could, if initially wanted not really act as a root force. After his debut at third round match against VV St. Truiden ( 2-0 home win ) already has the full duration in use, he also graduated after numerous games on the entire game. Among other things, he was employed on October 2, 2010, in a 3-1 victory over AS Eupen, in which he was sent off in the 72nd minute after an alleged serious foul with the red card. After a hearing of the Committee this game set for Martin on a barrier with two league games, but it has been fought by the player. After a further insight of television pictures and photos turned out to be the defender wrongly got the red card, for which he was acquitted. Then the Frenchman was only reinstated in January 2011, where he initially still acted as master power and also gave one assist in a 2-1 home win over Standard Liege, but used only as a substitute from the 24 round and either or came on. Nevertheless, he succeeded in finishing the season in a 2-2 derby draw against SV Zulte Waregem, the first professional league matches in his career when he met a premature 1:2 connection after submission of Mustapha Oussalah. With the team he eventually finished the season in tenth place in the standings. Later in the Europa League play-off, where the team took part in April and May 2011, he could not be proved with the team even though he was used in almost all parts of his team and only had to pause a game due to injury.

After 21 league inserts and a goal in the season 2010/11, the Frenchman became the 2011/12 first-team regular in the defensive line of his club. So he brought it to 28 appearances in the regular season, and on a further nine appearances in the championship final round. In both sections of the season he was not successful as a scorer for his team, but scored one goal each for the opposing team. Also an own goal he scored in the Belgian Football Cup 2011/12 season, as he managed the team to the finals of the tournament. There they defeated Sporting Lokeren only the narrowest of margins by a late goal from Tunisian Harbaoui Hamdi, who scored the 1-0 winning goal in the 77th minutes. Due to his achievements as a regular force be expiring in the summer contract was extended for another three years until the summer of 2015. Also in the season 2012/13 joined the 1.86 cm tall defender Recke as a regular player in the back line of his team in appearance. He brought it to 27 missions in the regular season in which they reached a comfortable place in mid-table, and four inserts and an own goal in the middle play-offs. As in the year before they managed to in the Belgian Football Cup 2012/13 again almost to the finals; against Cercle Bruges is different but just after extension after completing the second leg of their semi-final ahead of the current competition. In the Cup competition the following year the KV Kortrijk difference again a lap earlier from a tournament from; in January 2014 was completed after the quarter-final against KAA Gent conclusion. In the championship 2013/14 Martin could no longer connect to his old form and was related with the core at his position with the central defenders Maxime Chanot, Romain Reynaud, Michael Heylen and Zarko Tomasevic an equally willing to use competition in their own team. In the regular season he brought it so to just 16 appearances, in which he acted in only half of these missions over the full duration and frequently as a substitute came only brief appearances.

National team career

First experience for his country gathered Martin around the year 2003, when he was called, among other things for the French U-18 as well as the U-19 selection and thereby completed some internationals. He had with which he took part for the youth team of his home country, as well as for the French U- 21 team also at the Toulon Tournament in 2005 Further deployments. His commitment to the selected teams ended with the 2006 and the achievement of 22 years of age. Previously, he was taken a few more times in the U-21 squad this year.
