Barbaro family
The Barbaro family came from Rome to Istria, based in Trieste and Venice reached 868. 1121 took under Marco Domenico Michiel at a naval battle part. Barbaro (or Barbarigo, Barberigo ) ( the - igo suffix is typically Venetian ) was the surname of the family. The Barbarigo was one of the wealthiest families of the Venetian Republic. They had extensive real estate in Crete, near Verona and Treviso. Besides the two Doge Agostino Barbarigo Marco and there were a number of procurators and cardinals in the family. The family died out in the mid-19th century.
The family palace was the Palazzi Barbaro (also Palazzo Barbaro or Ca ' Barbaro ). It stands on the Grand Canal near the Ponte dell'Accademia place in the San Marco.
