Basto (musician)

Basto ( born January 8, 1975 in Hoogstraten; actually Jef Martens ) is a Belgian House-/Techno-/Trance-DJ and music producer. He stands at the label Spinnin ' Records. It also occurs on the name Basto! , Bitch Boys, Candyman, Dirty Bunch, DJ Basik and Jin Sonic. Together with his brother Toon Martens, he is also known as Lazy Jay.

Career

He began his career as a DJ in 2005 and was initially only successful in Belgium and the Netherlands with Rock with You ( 2005) and with the collaboration with Peter Luts in On My Own (2008).

With Gregory 's Theme (2011) Basto had his first success outside of Holland and Belgium with a placement in France. The song was originally written as an orchestral piece, as Hugh Laurie's Theme for legendary TV character Gregory and was later transformed by Basto into a dance anthem.

In addition to many successful remixes for famous artists such as Kylie Minogue, Milk Inc. or Hardwell he made again attracted international attention in 2011 by the Track Again and Again. In 2012, he worked with his brother as Lazy Jay with the U.S. rapper Azealia Banks together. In May, their single 212, which uses a sample of one of his songs appeared. As Basto! he still published during the year two more songs, Bonny and I Rave You. His single STORMCHASER appeared on 7 December at Spinnin ' Records. He was also involved as an author of the song Scream & Shout by will.i.am and Britney Spears. When DJ Mag ranking 2012, he landed at position 127
