Bato (Catanduanes)

Bato is a Philippine municipality of the island province of Catanduanes. It has 19,984 inhabitants ( census May 1, 2010 ) living in 27 barangays. The community is described as partly urban and belongs to the fifth income class municipalities in the Philippines. Bato is located about 372 km southeast of the capital of the Philippines Manila and 8 km east of the provincial capital of Virac, on the coast of the Philippine Sea.

Bato has a hilly to mountainous topography described in which the nature and water reserve Catanduanes Watershed Forest Reserve, with its vast rain forests.

The climate of the island of Catanduanes is classified as Type II, with no pronounced dry or wet season, the highest rainfall occurs from October to December. The community is located within the Typhongürtels in the Philippines.
