Bavarian Peasants' League

The Bavarian Farmers' Federation (BB) was a German political party in Bavaria. He represented from 1893 to 1933, the interests of the rural population in the Bavarian Landtag and the Reichstag. He had his strongholds in the old Bavarian territories, but was consistently strong presence in Swabia. Compared to other agricultural interest organizations ( Federation of Farmers, Rural League, Christian- National Peasants' and Country People's Party) was his objectives liberal, and in contrast to the center or to the BVP emphasizes non- clerical. Since 1922, he called himself Bavarian peasants and middle class waistband.

History

After February 18, 1893, the Agrarian League ( BDL ) was founded in Berlin, an offshoot should be founded in Bavaria also. The founding meeting in Lower Bavaria failed, an independent low- Bavarian Farmers' Federation was founded on April 10, 1893 launched in Straubing. In the same year came the Upper Bavarian and the Swabian League of farmers and traders, as well as the Franconian Peasant Union. Took place on 2 March 1895 in Regensburg, the founding of the Bavarian Farmers Federation ( BB), the Upper Bavarian organizations but joined only on 26 September 1897. In 1901, Georg Eisenberger from Ruhpolding first chairman of BB and remained so until 1930. Massive internal conflicts culminated in 1910 that the members of the Franconian peasant Federal transgressed majority of the German Farmers' Association, in part also to the Agrarian League.

1912 occurred in the Bavarian state elections to a common approach of the Bavarian Farmers' Federation, the German Farmers Federation, the various liberal parties and the Bavarian Social Democrats against the Centre Party.

After the November Revolution of 1918 (see also Munich Soviet Republic) sat down the left wing by Karl Gandorfer the BB through a collaboration with the SPD and the USPD temporarily also. From 1920 to 1930, the Bavarian Peasants' League formed a coalition with the DNVP BVP and at the country level and in each case was the Minister of State for Agriculture. With related groups joined the party in 1928 for the parliamentary elections to the German Farmers' Party together, where they had teamed up with other medium-and small-scale organizations from 1927 to 1933 in an umbrella organization with the name " German peasantry." Because of the continued support in 1929 constituted the open front but the Bavarian Farmers 'Federation in 1930 resigned from this demokratiebejahenden farmers' organization. In August 1930, the Bavarian Farmers' Federation was eliminated because of the introduction of a tax battle in Bavaria from the government coalition with the BVP.

After 1930 the Bavarian Farmers 'Federation lost a large part of the electorate to the BVP and in particular to the NSDAP, while the Farmers' Union leadership until 1933 remained largely loyal republic. The Farmers' Union broke up in April 1933 and recommended itself to the join the Nazi party to its members.

  • Konrad Kübler (1884-1974), editor and publisher of the association organ of the Bavarian Farmers Federation " Landauer people sheet " in Landau / Isar, was 1918/19, mDl Bavaria and the Soviet government Bauernrat. Later he imprisoned the Nazis. After 1945 he became a member of the CSU and was from 1946 to 1950 Member of the Bavarian Landtag (2nd Vice President).
