Ben Miller
Ben Miller ( born February 24, 1966 in London, England ) is a British actor, comedian and screenwriter.
Life
Ben Miller was born in London but grew up with his two sisters in Nantwich in the county of Cheshire. His father was a lecturer in American Literature at Birmingham City University and his mother taught English at South Cheshire College in Crewe. Miller attended the local school in Nantwich. After he had there made the conclusion, he began to study natural sciences at St Catharine's College, Cambridge. He also wanted to do a doctorate in quantum mechanics, but did not finish his dissertation.
While working on his dissertation, asked a friend if he wanted to carry for ten pounds per day jurors a cultural festival. According to the company it was for him a welcome opportunity, as ten pounds was a lot of money for a student who had to muddle through somehow ( Which was a lot of money for a struggling student ). As a result of this activity, he met Alexander Armstrong. They put together a comedy program, and kicked so in 1994 and 1996 under the name Armstrong & Miller at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and were nominated for the Perrier Comedy Award. Thanks to this success, both received their own sketch show, Armstrong and Miller, on television. The program was broadcast from 1997 to 2001, a resume with new episodes began in 2007. For the new edition of the program, he was nominated for a 2008 BAFTA Award. They also had a 1998 radio show with the same title at BBC Radio 4 During this time he learned and Armstrong Sarah Alexander know who participated in their first show. Miller was followed from 2004 to 2005 in the television series The Worst Week of My Life with Alexander again before the camera.
He had a first major film role in 2000 in the multi-award winning film Only Jimmy Grimble and 2003 in Johnny English alongside Rowan Atkinson. In the same year he became a voice in the sometimes very controversial television series Popetown that has not been aired in the UK due to violent protests by Catholics.
In Germany Miller is primarily for the presentation of James Lester in Primeval - Return of the known prehistoric monster. He plays this role since 2007 and since 2008 a major role in the television series Moving Wallpaper. In addition, to be broadcast in 2009, a further series of The Armstrong & Miller Show. From 2011 to 2014 he starred in the television series Death in Paradise as DI Richard Poole. Because he was long separated from his family because of the shooting in Guadeloupe, he left the series, however, during the third season of " heavy heart ". He was succeeded by Kris Marshall.
In 2004 he married the actress Belinda Stewart -Wilson, who plays a supporting role in the third season of Primeval.
