Benson Barus

Benson Barus Kipchumba (born 4 July 1980) is a Kenyan long- distance runner who specializes in the marathon.

The Junior World Champion of 1998 over 10,000 m won the Lucerne City Run 2002.

In 2006 he was on his debut over the 42,195 - km - distance second in the Milan City Marathon in 2:08:34 h to a fourth place at the JoongAng Seoul Marathon 2007 in 2:09:04 followed in 2008 first, a ninth place in the Paris Marathon in 2:09:23. In the fall he won the Udine Half Marathon and stayed with 59:41 minutes under the magical one- hour mark; a month later he was fifth at the Frankfurt Marathon in 2:08:57.

In 2009 he won the Turin Marathon in 2:09:07 and was third in the Beijing Marathon in 2:08:51. The following year, he came second in the Rome Marathon and the Chuncheon Marathon.

In 2011 he won the Prague Marathon.

Benson Barus Kipchumba belongs to the ethnicity of the virtues, is married and father of two daughters. He is coached by Italian Claudio Berardelli.
