Beulotte-Saint-Laurent

Beulotte -Saint -Laurent is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Beulotte -Saint -Laurent is located at an altitude of 605 m above sea level, 5 km north of Servance and about 28 km north- northwest of the town of Belfort ( a straight line ). The village is located in the extreme northeast of the department, in the valley of the Beuletin on the Plateau des Mille Étangs in the southwestern Vosges.

The area of ​​14.20 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the south-western Vosges. The main part of the area is occupied by the Plateau des Mille Étangs, which rises slightly towards the north- east. The plateau is a loose structure of forest, grassland, heathland and bogs. It reaches an average height of 650 m. In hollows are numerous small lakes which are mostly natural origin and during the ice age caused by glacial striation. Some were also dammed and used for fish farming. The area is drained by the Beuletin which is sunk with its valley up to 100 m in the plateau, to the southwest.

To the north, the municipality's area extends into the headwaters of the Breuchin, a tributary of the Lanterne. The northeastern boundary runs along a wide ridge that slopes steeply down to the valley of the Moselle. With 757 m is reached the highest elevation of Beulotte -Saint -Laurent in the area of ​​skin d' Alouette. Pass the heights partly from sediments that were deposited during the Lias, partly enters the crystalline bedrock evident in geological- tectonic terms. On the heights and in the valleys of the Quaternary deposits found. The entire municipality is part of the Regional Natural Park of Ballons des Vosges.

Neighboring communities of Beulotte -Saint -Laurent are Corravillers and Ferdrupt in the north, Ramon Champ in the east, the south and Servance Esmoulières in the West.

History

The place name derives from the patois expression bulotte which designates an area with numerous birches. In the Middle Ages Beulotte -Saint -Laurent belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had held the Lords of Faucogney. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the place with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Beulotte -Saint -Laurent is a member of the 16- villages municipal association Communauté de communes des Mille Étangs.

Attractions

The small village church was built in the 17th and 18th centuries. It has a tabernacle (17th century) and an altar and statues from the 18th century. In Breuche -la -Grande is a mill.

Population

With 73 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Beulotte -Saint -Laurent is one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 597 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1990s.

Economy and infrastructure

Beulotte -Saint -Laurent is still a predominantly by agriculture ( dairy farming and animal husbandry, some farming ) and forestry embossed village. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in town. Some employed persons are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road, leading from Servance after Corravillers. Further road links exist with Esmoulières and the Col des Croix.
