Sainte-Marie-en-Chanois

Sainte -Marie- de - Chanois is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Sainte -Marie- de - Chanois situated at an altitude of 355 m above sea level, 10 km east of Luxeuil -les- Bains and about 36 km northeast of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the northeastern part of the department, in the western foothills of the Vosges, on the northern edge of the Talniederung Breuchin.

The area of ​​4.79 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the plateau landscape criss-crossed by valleys on the western edge of the Vosges. The southern border is the middle of the valley of Breuchin, the multiple turn it flows through Alluvialniederung to the west. The flood plain is on average 345 m and has a maximum width of two kilometers on. It is used for agriculture.

From the river, the municipality's area extends northward over the Talniederung, the terrain terrace of Sainte -Marie and a predominantly wooded steep slope down to the adjoining heights of Mont Larrey and Maimont ( to 515 m). History

Is first mentioned Sainte -Marie in the year 1195th In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had held the Lords of Faucogney. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Attractions

The Church of Sainte -Madeleine was rebuilt in 1756. With 218 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) of Sainte -Marie- de - Chanois one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. Economy and infrastructure
