Corravillers

Corravillers is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Corravillers situated at an altitude of 455 m above sea level, 7 km north-east of Faucogney -et -la -Mer and about 46 km northeast of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the extreme northeast of the department, in the south-western Vosges, in a valley widening of Breuchin.

The area of ​​11.20 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the plateau landscape criss-crossed by valleys on the western edge of the Vosges. From east to west, the area is crossed by the valley of the Breuchin, which provides drainage for Lanterne. The flat alluvial plain is on average 450 m and has a maximum width of one kilometer. It is used primarily for agricultural purposes.

The valley of the Breuchin is about 200 m deep sunk into the surrounding plateau. The valley sides are divided by the gullies of various short tributaries of Breuchin. History

In the Middle Ages Corravillers belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had held the Lords of Faucogney that could be represented by the noble family of Corravillers. Since the 13th century Corravillers formed a parish. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the place with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Officially called the Municipality of Le Plain -de- Corravillers until 1974, the current nickname has been introduced. Today Corravillers is a member of the 16- villages municipal association Communauté de communes des Mille Étangs.

Attractions

The village church of Corravillers was rebuilt in the 17th and 18th centuries in classical style.
