Bill Miller (pole vault)

Bill Miller (actually William Waring Miller, born November 1, 1912 in Dodge City, Kansas, † November 13, 2008 in Paradise Valley, Arizona) was an American pole vaulter and Olympic champion.

On July 16, 1932 U.S. Trials William Graber jumped over 4.37 meters and improved the world record of Lee Barnes to seven centimeters. Second, the young Bill Miller, with 4.30 meters was set the previous world record.

At the Olympic Games in 1932 Graber was only fourth with 4.15 meters, while Miller was able to increase his personal best at 4,315 meters and Olympic champion.

Bill Miller was 1.72 m and weighed 79 kg in his playing days.
