The Town of Black Earth is one of 34 Towns in Dane County in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. In 2010, the Town of Black Earth 483 inhabitants.

Geography
The Town of Black Earth is located in southern Wisconsin, in the northwest suburban area of the capital, Madison. Located on the Mississippi intersection of the three states of Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota is located approximately 150 km west-northwest; to Illinois is about 75 km in the south.
The coordinates of the geographical center of the Town of Black Earth are 43 ° 07'46 " north latitude and 89 ° 46'44 " west longitude. It extends over an area of 44.8 km ². To the east of the Town of Black Earth is the independent municipality Black Earth. This is completely surrounded by the Town without belonging to it.

Traffic
The U.S. Highway 14 leads in northwest -southeast direction through the Town of Black Earth. Partially congruent proceeds of the Wisconsin State Highway 78 also still leads the County Highways F by the area of Town. All other roads are minor roads or partly unpaved roadways.
In parallel to U.S. 14 runs through the southwestern Town of Black Earth, a railroad line of the Wisconsin and Southern Railroad, a regional (Class II ) Freight transportation company.
The nearest airport is Dane County Regional Airport in Madison ( 35 km east ).
Population
According to the census in 2010 lived in the Town of Black Earth 483 people in 189 households. The population density was 10.8 inhabitants per square kilometer. In the 189 households lived statistically 2.56 per person.
