Geography
The Town of Westport is located in southern Wisconsin on the north shore of Lake Mendota, in the northern suburban area of the capital, Madison. Located on the Mississippi intersection of the three states of Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota is located 180 km west-northwest; to Illinois is approximately 80 km to the south. The independent municipality Waunakee is almost completely surrounded by the Town of Westport, without belonging to it.
The coordinates of the geographical center of the Town of Westport are 43 ° 09'33 " north latitude and 89 ° 25'33 " west longitude. It extends over an area of 70.5 km ², spread to 57.5 km ² land and 13 km ² water surface.

Traffic
In the Town of Westport the Wisconsin State Highway 19 and the Wisconsin State Highway 113 meet together. Furthermore, the County Highway K, M, and Q pass through the territory of the Town. All other roads are minor roads and partly unpaved roadways.
From northwest to southeast passing through the Town of Westport, a railroad line of the Wisconsin and Southern Railroad, a regional (Class II ) Freight transportation company. The only passenger in the region is the traffic going from Chicago to the West Coast Empire Builder Amtrak, which stops in Madison.
The nearest airport is Dane County Regional Airport in Madison Wisconsin's capital city ( about 10 km south-east ).

According to the census in 2010 lived in the Town of Westport 3950 people in 1782 households. The population density was 68.7 inhabitants per square kilometer. In the 1782 households lived statistically 2.2 persons each.
