Blake Geoffrion

Blake Geoffrion ( born February 3, 1988 in Plantation, Florida ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player who most recently was under contract with the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League and in parallel for their farm team Hamilton Bulldogs in the American Hockey League on the position the Center played. He comes from a traditional hockey family - his great- grandfather Howie Morenz and Bernie Geoffrion his grandfather are members of the Hockey Hall of Fame and his father, Dan Geoffrion also played in the NHL.

Career

Blake Geoffrion was born in the city of Plantation in the U.S. state of Florida and grew up in Brentwood, Tennessee. His first experience in organized hockey had Geoffrion with the team at Culver Military Academy in Indiana, USA, with whom he won the 2003 regional championship. He then received an invitation to the U.S. National Team Development Program of the U.S. Ice Hockey Federation USA Hockey. NHL Entry Draft 2006 Geoffrion was selected in the second round to 56th overall position of the Nashville Predators, shortly after Blake Geoffrion went to the University of Wisconsin -Madison and played from then on for the ice hockey team of the University, the Wisconsin Bagders. For the Badgers Forward completed a total of four seasons in his last he became the first Wisconsin player at all the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, which is awarded annually to the best college players.

On 16 April 2010, the striker signed a trial contract with the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League ( AHL ), the farm team of the Predators, for whom he played three play-off matches, and was able to achieve two goals. In June of the same year Geoffrion signed with the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League ( NHL) an entry contract. However, the majority of the 2010/11 season, the player spent with the Admirals in the AHL. Blake Geoffrion graduated 26 February 2011 his first NHL game against the Dallas Stars; thus stood for the first time in the history of the National Hockey League, a player in the fourth generation on the ice .. His first NHL goal he scored on 1 March 2011 against the Edmonton Oilers.

Could Geoffrion in the season 2011/ 12 are not permanently established in the NHL squad of the Nashville Predators and graduated as last season for both the Predators and for the Milwaukee Admirals some games. On 17 February 2012, the Predators Geoffrion, Robert Slaney and transferred a second-round vote for the NHL Entry Draft in 2012 to the Montreal Canadiens. Nashville received defender Hal Gill in return. His grandfather, Bernie Geoffrion and his great-grandfather Howie Morenz also played for the Canadiens and are a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame. In the summer of 2013 Geoffrion, who had suffered a skull fracture in November 2012 decided to end his active career. Then he was hired as a scout by the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Internationally

Geoffrion represented the United States for the first time at the U18 Junior World Cup in 2006, where he won the gold medal with his team after a victory in the final against the Finnish national team. In the U20 World Junior Championships 2007 Geoffrion lost with the U.S., the semi-final match against the Canadians in the match for third place they defeated the Swedish selection and process, secured the bronze medal. A year later, he placed himself with the United States in fourth place after they again defeated in the semi-final against Canada and had to admit defeat in the match for third place Russia.
