The station Blankenese is approximately 13 kilometers west of the Hamburg Central Station in Hamburg's Blankenese. It belongs to the category Railway Station 3 There is a railway terminus, which is now used exclusively by the Hamburg S-Bahn.

Description

The train station is centrally located in the district, surrounded by crows mountain, into which carry out the rear parking facilities in a trough. It consists of a station building with several smaller shops, and two platforms, which are accessible by stairs or an elevator. Since 2007, the area was around the station ( first Blankeneser Station Square, now renamed Erik - Blumenfeld - space ) and renovated the station building itself and to parking, extended practice, office and commercial premises.

Architecture

The central railway station building of 1866/67 was built as a compact, representative stucco building. It has to either side of five windows and a central projection inflated. Elements of the Romanesque ( frieze ), Gothic ( four passes) and the Renaissance and Classicism ( round-arched windows with wider framing and small columns ) were used for decorations.

The building is constructed with pillars so above the track body, that a single-track tunnel passage to the stabling arises. This, however, is blocked for several years.

History

The building was expanded in 1897 to the forecourt towards a similarly designed Bahnhofsgaststätte. Structural additions followed in 1911 - with the opening of the railway track lots Blankenese -Marie height at Blankenese station had its starting point - in 1929 and finally in 1953, when the loading line was added on the ground floor. In the seventies, here pulled a fast-food restaurant, but that disappeared in the wake of the recent redevelopment.

1988-1990 was followed by a restoration of large parts of the station: The old steel stairways to the platforms were replaced by concrete -based new buildings. An escalator and lift to since the main platform ( platform 2 /3). The platform canopies were renovated. The leading to the S -Bahn access facility received a new color scheme ( instead of dark greens now light blue with aluminum, glass and hellhölzernen elements). The main building was, however, not completely renovated and was therefore more exposed to decay. This was justified, inter alia, in the years of intensive discussions about the redevelopment of the station district in Blankenese. Several designs have been presented around the years 1993 and 1997, but rejected by parts of Blankeneser population.

First, only the eastern entrance stairs 2002-2004, were replaced together with the associated pedestrian bridge that connects the streets Witts Avenue and at the Klingenberg by a new building. It was only during the construction work had been found that a completely new building was needed. In early 2006, began with the construction of the road bridge over the Sülldorfer Kirchenweg the actual transformation of the station environment.

The central station building has now been repaired as part of ongoing restructuring measures since 2007 and re-plastered in a shade of yellow. The rows of shops on the ground floor and were completely redesigned. On the site of the goods station, demolished the old shed and the tracks were dismantled, including apartment buildings and a supermarket were built. Overall, the redesign of the station environment will cost 95 million euros. Since October 2008, the main building is a listed building.

The redesign of the station square was completed in early May 2009. In this case, the direction of travel has been reversed in the Buskehre (now in the clockwise direction). The new building complex behind the station building, inter alia, the customer center of the district of Altona Blankenese has its headquarters on 26 October 2009, the new Bücherhalle " Elbvororte " opened directly at the train station in a new building and the existing and now closed locations Iserbrook to replace cracks.

A special bus service in Hamburg form the district lines 48 and 49 ( operators in the traffic group: PVG), on which special minibuses are used and a Schnellbustarif applies. Since March 1, 1959, the line is 48 ( since 1968, first "B 6"), baptized by the Blanke Nesern " mountain goat ", as she goes on a round trip to and from the Blankeneser station through the steep and narrow streets of the staircase area.
