Bloch (TV series)

Bloch is a television film series of the Southwest Radio and the West German Radio. The 24 90-minute films were broadcast from 2002 to 2013 at irregular intervals each in prime time in the series Wednesday in the first film. Dieter Pfaff played the psychiatrist and psychotherapist Dr. Maximilian Bloch, who works in Cologne and Baden -Baden and his patients to help by means of empathy, humor, cunning and sleuthing investigated. This often his own complicated private life is strained and he confronts painful to himself.

Production

The concept of the series was by Peter Märthesheimer and Pea Fröhlich. Dieter Pfaff developed with the character of the psychotherapist Bloch, a former career aspirations accordingly. Some of the consequences incurred in co-production of both SWR and WDR, others were produced by only one of the transmitters or the Baden-Baden subsidiary of the SWR Maran film.

In the episodes 1-5, 7, 8, 11, 14 and 20 film music by Irmin Schmidt was composed and played.

Psychiatric and psychotherapeutic work in the series

Bloch is limited in the series to a psychotherapeutic approach. Psychiatric work, such as treatment with psychotropic drugs is addressed only marginally. Content, Bloch refers occasionally to psychoanalysis as a treatment method; so be patient lay eg partly on a treatment couch. In all the (very extensive ) artistic freedoms of the series, in the core, however, is actually a main concern of psychoanalysis namely the struggle Bloch's remains clearly visible, therefore, not only to detect the symptoms of his patients and to eliminate, but this rather in the context of life and to see biography of the patient and to understand their significance as cry for help of the soul, and to understand the underlying unconscious conflict; this - very psychoanalytic tradition - and in terms of, for example, delusional symptoms.

All films were released on DVD, the last cases 21-24 on June 13, 2013. Subsequent Black dust was released from 16 years, further cases over 12 years.
