Bob Suter

Robert Allen Suter ( born May 16, 1957 in Madison, Wisconsin ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player and coach. At the Olympic Winter Games in 1980 he won the gold medal as a member of the U.S. national team.

Career

Bob Suter began his career as a hockey player at the University of Wisconsin, which he attended from 1977 to 1979 while he was playing in parallel for their hockey team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. In 1979 he was chosen in the second All- Star team the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. The 1978/79 season he finished with the Tulsa Oilers of the Central Hockey League, for which he prepared three goals in his rookie year in professional hockey in seven games. In the season 1979/80 he took up for Team USA at the Olympic preparation. After a year break, he ran in the 1981/82 season once again in the Central Hockey League, this time for the Nashville South Stars. Then he ended his active career at the age of 25 years.

From 1984 to 1986 Suter served as head coach of the Madison Capitols of the Junior League United States Hockey League.

Internationally

For the U.S., Suter participated in the 1981 World Championship. In addition, he was in the squad of his country at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, where he won the gold medal with his team.

Family

His brother Gary Suter was also a professional hockey player. Even his sons Garrett Suter and Ryan Suter and his nephew Jeremy Dehner are professional hockey players.
