Bollion

Bollion is a village and formerly independent municipality in the canton of Fribourg Broyebezirk in Switzerland. Effective on January 1, 2006 Bollion was incorporated along with Seiry by Lully (FR).

Geography

Bollion located in the enclave Estavayer -le- Lac on the south bank of the creek Bainoz. The former municipality bordering on font, Seiry, Murist and Châbles.

Population

The vast majority of the population of Bollion is French-speaking and Roman Catholic.

Economy

The community is mainly dominated by agriculture (more than 60 % of the active population). A few companies in the service sector ( hotel) and a metal - operation are also available.

History

Bollion is bolyon on the word back out, which in patois means as much as container or vessel. Bollion was part of the seigniory of Lully. The area belonged to the villages font, Châbles and Châtillon to grande commune of Font. It was not until the early 19th century, the territory of the municipality has been set. A fire destroyed the village in 1854.

As part of since 2000 sponsored by the Canton of Fribourg municipal mergers, a merger project was developed which had an association of Bollion and Seiry with Lully (FR ) to the destination. At the community meetings of 22 April 2005, the merger was approved by the voters of all three communities in the Bollion Jastimmenanteil was 66 %. With effect from 1 January 2006, the merger was completed.
