Bussy, Fribourg

Bussy is a municipality in the canton of Fribourg Broyebezirk in Switzerland.

Geography

Bussy is a small village within the exclave of Estavayer -le- Lac. Four Freiburg communities ( Moren, Vernay, Sévaz and Cugy ) and a Vaudois congregation (Payerne ) adjacent to the municipality. In recent years the area has been greatly changed by the construction of the A1 motorway.

Population

The entire population speaks French with a few exceptions and the majority ( over 85 %) are Roman Catholic.

Economy

Employment is divided between agriculture and the service sector. The industry, except for 2 small businesses, is practically non-existent.

History

During the Middle Ages Bussy belonged to the lords of Estavayer. It was in 1809 raised to the independent community.
