Borommarachathirat III

Borommaracha III. ( Thai. สมเด็จ พระบรม ราชา ที่ 3, Full Name: .. Borommarachathirat III, Thai สมเด็จ พระบรม ราชาธิราช ที่ 3, * 1447, † 1491 ) was from 1463 to 1488 as the "Second King " ( Uparat ) ruler of Ayutthaya and from 1488 to 1491 II under the name Intharacha ( Thai: พระ อินทรา ชา ) the tenth king of the Siamese kingdom of Ayutthaya.

Life

Borommaracha III. was the son of King Borommatrailokanat, who had his farm in Phitsanulok. The king was of the opinion that the capital of Ayutthaya could not do without rulers, so he appointed his son in 1463 to Uparat, and handed him the throne at the Wang Luang in Ayutthaya.

After the death of Borommatrailokanat in 1488 to let Borommaracha III. as Intharacha II ( Thai: พระ อินทรา ชา ) crowned king of the Kingdom of Ayutthaya. He held until his death in 1491 this office.

The chronicler Jeremias Van Vliet, merchant of the VOC, who lived in Ayutthaya from 1633 to 1642, describes the king as follows:

" This king was so gracious as his father in any way, because he was not a fighter and not studious by nature. He had to do with the spiritual life a little, but gave in to the pleasure. He found great pleasure in hunting and in combat on elephant - back. He often traveled in his kingdom around much to the chagrin of his tangerine. For whenever the king left his palace, they had to accompany him with great pomp. Therefore the king was secretly hated by the court, while the common man worshiped him. The king fortified many cities, restored some ruins, and renovated and enlarged his palace at many places. His reign was not a wealthy but one loaded with issues of time. "
