Bowers Coaches

Eric W. Bowers Coaches Limited trading as Bowers (formerly Bowers Coaches ) is a bus company based in the High Peak District in Derbyshire in the UK.

Takeover by Centrebus

Bowers is a subsidiary of the Group Centrebus, before 2007 it was an independent family. After the purchase by Centrebus in 2007, the company of " Bowers Coaches " has been renamed " Bowers ", the legal entity of the company but is still " Eric W. Bowers Coaches Limited". After taking over a large portion of the buses in orange and blue was repainted ( colors of Centrebus ), but they still go under the name Bowers. The commissioned in spring 2010 at the Route 27 buses into service with the name " Cheshire Connect operated by Centrebus ".

Bus

The company operates bus services around the towns Buxton, Glossop and New Mills in the High Peak district and some surrounding areas such as the city of Marple in Stockport and Ashbourne in the Derbyshire Dales.

The High Peak area is a tourist area. In summer there is a large influx of visitors for the Bowers bus offers connections between the major cities such as Buxton, Glossop and Ashbourne, among other destinations.

Due to high demand, two new low-floor buses were purchased with additional seating in 2009. These low-emission buses ( Euro -5 standard) have a "Go Green" paint scheme to promote environmental sustainability of bus travel.

In Cheshire Bowers is working on a number of major bus routes with other partners, including the important route from Knutsford to Macclesfield ( work by AstraZeneca). As one of the first bus passengers obtain information by satellite tracking.

Bus Tours

The company was formed under the name Bowers Coaches ( coach = coach) and used this name until some time after the takeover by Centrebus since the company was founded in 1952 started out as a transport service or pick-up service. Only later, the company had expanded its driving activity on bus lines, especially after the deregulation of bus services in 1986.

Under Centrebus the decision was made that the transport service was no longer viable and will not fit in the field of activity. Therefore, the part of the name " coaches " has been removed from the company name. Nevertheless, private journeys continue to be posted.
