Breese, Germany

Breese is a municipality in the district of Prignitz in Brandenburg. It is / managed by the office Bad Wilsnack ways with headquarters in Bad Wilsnack.

Geography

The municipality is located in northwestern Brandenburg, about two kilometers east of the town of Wittenberg in the Elbe biosphere reserve - Brandenburg. On the western boundary of the municipality the Stepenitz flows towards the Elbe. The railway line between Berlin and Hamburg runs through the municipality, but has only a former breakpoint.

History

Breese

Breese was first mentioned in documents in 1317. The village name comes from the Slavic and means something like " place where the birch trees standing ." The three villages of the municipality ( Breese, United Breese, Kuhblank ) are from the origin Rundlinge.

Klein Breese once belonged to the estate Neuburg. Urns found evidence of a settlement of the district already in the Bronze Age. From 1441 to 1728 a gentleman Strilack had the Knights of Retz village until 1825, the Lords of Möllensdorf and after 1828 the estate. 1820 Klein Breese was almost completely destroyed as a result of fire. From 1849 to 1878 Klein Breese is part of the municipality of Wittenberg and is one thereafter until 1952 Office area Wittenberg. 1877 Gut Klein Breese was dissolved.

Gross Breese

The Brandenburg State Archives granted its approval to the Breese community management of arms and flag on November 14, 2012.
