Bremervörde–Walsrode railway

The railway line Bremervörde Walsrode was a railway line with regional significance in Lower Saxony. She joined Bremervörde about Zeven, Rotenburg ( Wümme) and Visselhoevede with Walsrode. The passenger was divided in Rotenburg. Originally, the compound had been conceived as part of a continuous mainline route between Hanover and Geestemünde. Highway never found on the track but instead; but there were around 1953 through express trains between Bremervörde and Hanover.

History

Early years

The first sections between Bremervörde and Zeven and between Visselhoevede and Walsrode have been opened since 1890. The section Walsrode Visselhoevede presented first is the continuation of the southern section Heidebahn Hannover Walsrode and was built mainly on the basis of guarantees the company Wolff & Co. in Bomlitz that needed a connection to the North Sea ports on the Cordingen station. Closing the gap of Zeven about Rotenburg and Brockel after Visselhoevede was opened in 1906. The entire route played an important role in the development of the region, the transport of agricultural goods, school transport and for the excursion tourism. During the Nazi reign of the southern part between Cordingen and Walsrode was part of a cul - ring traffic over the works railway Wolff and Heidebahn to cope with the volume of traffic through the newly built Bomlitz defense industry. About the railway line also wrong deportation trains to the concentration camps Bergen -Belsen and Sandbostel.

Section Bremervörde - Rotenburg ( Wümme)
