Seedorf, Lower Saxony

Seedorf is a municipality in the district of Lower Saxony Rotenburg ( Wümme ) and is situated on the main road 71 between Zeven and Bremervörde 90 km from the North Sea. The municipality of Seedorf is in the Samtgemeinde Selsingen.

In the municipality was located from 1963 until 2006 a Dutch garrison. Since October 2006, here the majority of the Airborne Brigade 31 stationed.

On March 1, 1974, the neighboring community Godenstedt was incorporated.

  • WG- Godenstedt - 4 seats

Coat of arms

Description: In the red field a silver gold armored running mammoth. In the black sign foot placed a silver spade with the sheet to the right.

The coat of arms was adopted from Godenstedt because of a mammoth was found in the degradation of marl in Godenstedt remains.

Freeman

  • Peter Struck, SPD parliamentary group chairman and former defense minister, was in 2005 an honorary citizen of the community.
