Breddorf
Breddorf is a municipality with 1,211 inhabitants in the Lower Saxon Samtgemeinde Tarmstedt in the district of Rotenburg ( Wümme). In addition to the main town Breddorf include also the places Hanstedt, Breddorfermoor and marriage Brock to the community.

Geography
In the village there is the nature reserve " swatte Flag". It is located near Hepstedt and Rhade.
History
The first mention Breddorfs place in the year 1236.
Incorporations
On March 1, 1974, the neighboring community Hanstedt was incorporated.
Origin of the name
Breddorf was first mentioned in 1236, was from 1237 to 1246 and known to Breddtorpe 1352 in Brettorpe. The name comes from the Low German " bred " for wide. In conjunction with " dorp " for the village, one can conclude that the local name obviously refers to the position or shape of the settlement, so wide village.
Sports
Breddorf shares with Hepstedt a sports club (SV Eintracht Hepstedt / Breddorf ). Sports: football, running, badminton, volleyball, table tennis, gymnastics and much more
Since the year 2012 there is the football club FC Ummel, who emerged from the clubs TSV Timke and SV Eintracht Hepstedt / Breddorf.

Famous people
The writer Walter Kempowski (1929-2007) lived from 1960 to 1965 in Breddorf, where he taught with his wife Hildegard as a teacher at the local elementary school.
The businessman and Honorary Consul Andreas mask grew up in Breddorf entrepreneurs in household of his parents. His father Eckard mask was the founder and former CEO of the mask group of companies.
