Wohnste
Wohnste ( Low German: Woonst ) is the northernmost municipality in the Lower Saxon Samtgemeinde Sittingbourne in the district of Rotenburg ( Wümme). It is divided into the two places large and small Wohnste Wohnste. In the community Wohnste is made primarily from the Low German language use in both the private and the public sectors.
Geography
The community Wohnste consists of the two pile villages small and large Wohnste and the associated field mark, which includes the living Rochester Mill Moor in the south / southwest. The easterly Small Wohnste is located on the driver, a stream that flows to the south by the members of the community Vierden villages Ramshausen and Nüttel and finally flows into Sittingbourne in the Oste River, a tributary of the Elbe.
As northernmost municipality of the velvet municipality Sittingbourne Wohnste is surrounded on three sides by the district of Stade: To the northwest lies the community Ahlerstedt, while in the north- east and east borders the municipality Sauensiek. By 1932 Wohnste belonged to the district of Zeven, then to the district Bremervörde connected to the district of Rotenburg (Wümme ) was merged on 1 August 1977. Scenic Wohnste belongs to Harsefelder Geest, a sub-region of Zevener Geest, by the sandy and loamy glacial deposits ( glacial till ) the Ice Age was shaped as rolling hills with only slight elevation retiring. Geology
The geological formation in northern Germany reaches about 600-500 million years ago to the late, for Precambrian belonging to the Proterozoic. At that time, the present land mass of northern Germany was in high southern latitudes on the northern edge of the supercontinent Gondwana. The municipality is located north of Wohnste nordvariszischen deformation front on the belonging to Avalonia Lüneburg solid and thus belongs to the oldest part of Europe ( Paleo- Europe). By acting tectonic forces Avalonia was reduced and abolished in the Permian thus room for a vast sea area, which penetrated far to Central Europe. From this time the salt deposits ( Zechstein ) come throughout northern Germany. The North German Basin did not change its position in the following millions of years, but was repeatedly raised and lowered again and thus served as a catch basin of the ablated by erosion of sediment of the former Caledonian mountain ranges. History
The first documentary mention as Wodensete is handed down from the year 1258. It is concerning issued by the bishop of Verden to a deed to the tithe of Hermann Schucke. In a further certificate of the bishop of Verden to 1263, the place is named as Wodensethe. From the 14th century, the name Wodenstede is preserved. Although controversial is still suspected that the root word " vodka " is derived from the name of the god Odin. That would mean that the place has been named to pre-Christian times, ie before 814, after the Germanic god. Woden was the supreme god of the Lombards. This settled into just north and east of town, possibly leading to the village, as indicated by the naming.
By remaining on some in the northern remnants of heath the Lombards moved from AD 150 to the south and settled in northern Italy. The unused land was settled by the Saxons moving up, presumably upstream penetrated on the Oste and their tributaries in the orphaned country. The core of settlement in those days shall be presumed on the basis of excavations between small Meckelson and Sittingbourne. From here, it is assumed, could have been founded in the early Middle Ages, the places Vierden and Ippensen. Due to the size of the blank and the field Mark Wohnste may be older. Wohnste belonged to pre-Christian times to Sturmigau whose capital was Verden. The farm name may have been taken in the resettlement to the United Wohnste. Small Wohnste had been thus repopulated until later. Conclusive historical documents do not exist for this oral tradition, however.

Sports
In the community Wohnste the sports club MTV Wohnste is established. The club was founded in 1913 and now has two sports fields as well as a greatly expanded in 1987 by growing sports hall. Initially there were only club gymnastics and athletics. Today, the association is composed of six different categories: badminton, football, Prellball, table tennis, gymnastics and dance.
Traffic
The community is located about five miles north of Sittingbourne. The villages large and small Wohnste Wohnste are connected via the running east - west direction, K 131, which leads east to L 130. By United Wohnste also leads the K 121, the southeast in turn connects to the L 130 and the community thus binds to the A 1 via the junction Sittingbourne.
The K 121 has a well-developed cycle path that leads up to Sittingbourne. Similarly, large and small Wohnste are connected via a cycle path.
