Broumov (Tachov District)

Broumov ( German Promenhof ) is a municipality with 128 inhabitants ( 1 January 2004) in the Czech Republic. It is situated in 573 m asl on Hammerbach ( Hamerský creek ) in the Upper Palatinate Forest, 4 km east of the Bavarian border and belongs to the Okres Tachov on. To neighboring German municipality Mähring there is a border crossing for motor vehicles.

History

Promenhof was first mentioned in 1523. For site include two small castle that has been built on behalf of the landowners in the 18th century, including " U Sv. Vita ", the castle of St. Veit. Promenhof belonged at the time to the estate of Kuttenplan.

Since the 16th century mining was dismantled and particularly lead, iron and copper ore. An ironworks is mentioned in records dating back to 1749, which was later supplemented by a Blechwalzerei and Drahterei and adjusted until the second half of the 19th century. In the village there was a blue color work, which was shut down in 1780 due to exhaustion of the cobalt mining. 1855 began the resumption of mining.

1939 lived in the community, including its districts New Haimhausen and Galt stables 658 inhabitants.

The place located in St. Anne's Church was inaugurated in the early 1930s and was a branch church of the Holy Trinity Church in Hinterkotten. It was built according to an inscription on the church entrance " trusting in God ... by Walter Graf von Berchem and the inhabitants of the municipality Promenhof " in memory of the fallen in the wars. Front of the church today is a symbolic cemetery for German soldiers who fell during World War II.
