Brusno

Brusno (Slovak 1960-1973 " Hronov "; Hungarian Borosznó - to 1888 Brusznó ) is a town in central Slovakia, with 2140 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011). It lies in the east of Okres Banská Bystrica, which belongs to Banskobystrický kraj.

Geography

Brusno lies in the region Horehronie ( Horehronie ) on both banks of the river Hron ( German Gran ) which receives the right-side and left-side Sopotnica Brusnianka here. The municipality is located in the narrow valley between the Low Tatras in the north and in the south Polana. The city center is 20 kilometers from Banská Bystrica and 23 kilometers from Brezno.

Administratively divided the community in community Parts Brusno, Brusno - kúpele and Ondrej nad Hronom (1960 amalgamated ).

History

Brusno with the neighboring Ondrej nad Hronom were 1424, first mentioned as a villa utraque Zenthandras, so both San Andreas Places in writing and were Untertanorte of the manor of Castle Liptsch, in which agriculture was dominant. 1441 Brusno is mentioned as Bruzno and Ondrej nad Hronom as villa Sancti Andree. Attempts to a long-term mining work failed in the Middle Ages. A typical career was peddler, besides also lumberjack, and Schäfer workers. In 1828 there were 77 houses and 581 inhabitants Brusno, in Ondrej nad Hronom 105 houses and 760 inhabitants. A new impetus to the development was the " discovery" of the mineral springs in the early 19th century, but were well known before and the first spa was completed in 1837.

Until 1918, both towns in the county belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and Sohl came after Czechoslovakia. 1960 united Brusno and Svätý Ondrej nad Hronom, as the place was then called, to the municipality Hronov, but in 1973 was given the name Brusno.
