Bryan Forbes

Bryan Forbes ( CBE, actually John Theobald Clarke, born July 22, 1926 in Stratford, London, † 8 May 2013 in Virginia Water, Surrey ) was a British film director, screenwriter and actor.

Life

Forbes began acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, which he, however, did not finish. After his military service from 1945 to 1948, he starred in numerous English films supporting roles. In addition, he began to write screenplays. The first film adaptation of one of his screenplays, he experienced 1955. 1959 he founded together with his friend Richard Attenborough film production company Beaver Films. His directorial debut was in 1961 with the film Whistle Down the Wind. Bryan Forbes was married since 1955 in second marriage to actress Nanette Newman ( born 1934 ). Roger Moore was their best man and from the marriage are two daughters emerged. In 2004 he was appointed Commander of the British Empire.
