Buckautal

Buckautal is a municipality in the west of the district Potsdam- agent Mark Brandenburg and part of the Office Ziesar.

Geography

Buckautal is about five kilometers to the south and east of Ziesar on the border with Saxony- Anhalt. Buckautal located south of Fiener break on a glacial Sander. On the sand mainly pines grow. The place is over ten kilometers long stretched community, ranging from district Dretzen in the south west to the hamlet of Stone Mountain in the northeast. Southwest of Buckautal, the district Dretzen is the large military training area Altengrabow.

The municipality consists of the villages of Buckau, Dretzen, colony Wittstock and Steinberg

History

In the year 946 Buckau is first documented as " Bucounici ". Emperor Otto I then gave the honey tithe of the " urbs " (Latin: City ) Buckau the Moritz monastery in Magdeburg. This Buckau is the oldest ( mentioned in documents ) place of today's federal state of Brandenburg. The term " urbs " speaks for the former importance of the settlement. Buckau had formerly a castle warden, he is today but only a circular spot in the field mark north of the village diameter of about 150 meters left. The church today Buckautal was on 1 March 2002 from the voluntary merger of the previously independent municipalities Buckau and Dretzen. On March 1, 2002, the municipality Steinberg was incorporated.

Transport links

The Federal Highway 2, which leads near the local part Steinberg by the municipality is to reach beyond the Ziesar connection (about 9 km). Federal highway 107 crosses the district Buckau the community.
