Wusterwitz
Wusterwitz is a municipality in the district of Brandenburg Potsdam- agent market. It is the seat of the homonymous Office, which also belong to the communities Rosenau and Bensdorf.
Geography
On the edge of Havellandes the municipality lies on the western shore of the lake Wusterwitzer.
History
Wusterwitz was founded in 1159 by Archbishop Wichmann of Magdeburg, and has one of the oldest city charters east of the Elbe. The calendar entry of the document reads: " Archbishop Wichmann of Magdeburg closes with the locator (entrepreneur) Henry and other Flemings, handing over the village Großwusterwitz Havel a settlement agreement, they confirmed the right of Schartau, assigns daily market trading after Magdeburg law and the holding of a. market year on "The development, however, did not meet expectations; the place was a regular Einstraßenanlage village character. Only the size of the Romanesque stone church recalls in its spacious floor plan of the hoped-for development. A manor was dissolved in 1781. 1833-60 created three brickyards. Until the administrative reform in 1952, the place was called Großwusterwitz. As part of the administrative reform Wusterwitz came to the district of Brandenburg in the district of Potsdam. Previously, the district had Großwusterwitz Jerichow II (from 1950 Genthin circle ) in the province of Saxony belongs ( since 1947 Saxony -Anhalt). Since German reunification in 1990 Wusterwitz located in Brandenburg.
Traffic
Wusterwitz has a station on the railway line from Berlin to Magdeburg. The station building is a listed building. Until the early 1970s, another railway line began in Wusterwitz after Ziesar and Görzke.
The Elbe- Havel Canal to the associated Wusterwitz lock is located at the northern end of town.

Education, Culture and sights
In Wusterwitz there is a primary school ( Wilhelm- idol - school) and a daycare.
The village church Wusterwitz is a hall church with west tower, nave, transept, choir and apse. These is the beautiful ceiling paintings inside. It was built in the Romanesque style of boulders.
In the list of monuments in Wusterwitz and in the list of ground monuments in Wusterwitz are registered in the list of monuments of the country Brandenburg cultural monuments.
