Büdlich

Büdlich is a small municipality in the district Bernkastel -Wittlich in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Thalfang to the inheritance head.

Geography

Büdlich lies in the Hunsrück about five kilometers south of Trittenheim and eight kilometers north-west of Thal -catching. West of the town flows the Little Dhron. The municipality also includes the residential places Bohnsmühle, Büdlicherbrück ( part ), Büdlichermühle and saw mill.

History

By the end of the 18th century belonged to the Electoral-Trier Büdlich Office St. Maximin. After the French Revolution, the left bank of the Rhine and thus Büdlich of France in 1794 taken possession. From 1798 to 1814 Büdlich was the capital of the eponymous canton in the Saar department and the seat of a peace court. Thanks to the law of 26 March 1798, the French raised their feudal rights in the region. After the end of French rule, the town came in 1815 with the Kingdom of Prussia. North of the Büdlich Dhrontalsperre was built in 1911. Since 1946 it has been part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded.
