Bulgarian National Radio

The Bulgarian National Radio (also: Bulgarian National Radio, Bulgarian: Българско национално радио / Balgarsko nazionalno radio; БНР / BNR ) is next to the BNT second public service broadcaster headquartered in Sofia Bulgaria.

1930, the foundation stone with the radio station Rodno radio was placed in Sofia. Meanwhile, the BNR operates two national ( Chorisont and Hristo Botev ) and seven regional stations as well as abroad program. Since 1993, the transmitter of the European Broadcasting Union is a member.

The Bulgarian National Radio is a national autonomous information and culture device according to the Bulgarian Law on Radio and Television Act of 10 September 1996. This law Bulgaria followed an invitation of the EU. BNR financed its program primarily from advertising revenues and public funds. A law by which a license fee should be introduced, has not been adopted.

Despite the competition from many private radio stations, the programs of the Bulgarian National Radio Broadcasting are with respect to number of listeners is still the leader. Since 1998, the program of the Bulgarian National Radio Broadcasting is also transmitted live on the Internet.
