Buzz Schneider

William Conrad "Buzz" Schneider ( born September 14, 1954 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player. At the Olympic Winter Games in 1980 he won the gold medal as a member of the U.S. national team.

Career

Buzz Schneider began his career as a hockey player at the University of Minnesota, for their hockey team, he participated in 1973-1975 in the game operation of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. With his team he won in 1974 and 1975 respectively the champion of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association and in 1974 additionally the champion of the NCAA. In the 1975/76 season he took part in the Olympic preparation with Team USA. The majority of the 1976/77 season the winger spent at the Hampton Gulls from the Southern Hockey League. For the team he scored in 42 games 36 scorer points, including 14 goals. In addition, he came into this season with some inserts for the Birmingham Bulls of the World Hockey Association, the. Springfield Indians of the American Hockey League, and the Oklahoma City Blazers of the Central Hockey League From 1977 to 1979 he was a regular player with the Milwaukee Admirals of the International Hockey League, before he took part in with Team USA in preparation for the Olympic Winter Games during the 1979/80 season again. Most recently, he played from 1980 to 1983 for the SC Bern in the Swiss National League A, before he ended his career at the age of 28 years.

Internationally

For the U.S., Schneider took part in the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck in 1976 and 1980 in Lake Placid, where in 1980 he and his team won the gold medal. In addition, he was in his country's squad at the B- World Cup in 1974 and the A World Championships 1975, 1976 and 1982.
